Who Should take this course?
This OSHA 16 Hour HAZWOPER Upgrade (to the 40 Hour) - Blended (8 Hours Online/8 Hours Classroom) course is for those workers who have the 24 Hour HAZWOPER training and wish to upgrade to the 40 Hour HAZWOPER level.
This version of the course provides 8 hours of online training coupled with 8 hours of classroom training. We also offer a 16 Hour HAZWOPER Online course that provides training that is entirely online for workers who will receive follow-up training with company-specific equipment or workers who are unlikely to use HAZWOPER equipment on any worksite.
All HAZWOPER training must be refreshed each year.
The classroom portion of this training provides hands-on training for the final 8 hours of the 16-hour upgrade. OSHA requires workers to be adequately trained to use personal protective equipment in a training environment prior to using it in a hazardous work environment. The hands-on classroom session introduces students to examples of specialized equipment and allows them to practice donning, doffing, and using it.
This OSHA accepted training is brought to you by a team of OSHA Certified Outreach Trainers and meets the requirements for 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3)(iv) and 29 CFR 1929.65(e)(3)(iv).
The objectives for this course are to meet the Federal OSHA HAZWOPER training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3)(i) for General Industry and 29 CFR 1926.65(e)(3)(i) for Construction. This course is also intended to meet any HAZWOPER training requirements for EPA and State OSHA regulations.
Workers with 24 hours of training who are covered by paragraphs (e)(3)(ii) and (e)(3)(iii) of this section, and who become general site workers or who are required to wear respirators, shall have the additional 16 hours and two days of training necessary to total the training specified in paragraph (e)(3)(i).
This course consists of 2 modules broken down into 18 sections. Students are required to take each section in sequential order as listed. There is no final exam.
Each exam consists of 10 questions randomly selected from a large pool of questions. A 70% score or better is required to pass each exam.
If a student does not pass an exam the first time, they may retake the exam as many times as necessary in order to pass.
When required by OSHA standards, workers must receive additional training on the specific hazards of their job. Training providers should be used to ensure credibility and augment a company's training program.
In addition to the training provided by an outside party, a student should receive site-specific training provided by his or her employer. This training should target the company's unique approach to hazard prevention, including the use of site-specific equipment, health and safety policies, and emergency procedures. As a rule, this company specific training should be well documented.
If a worker who has taken the OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER course entirely online is required to use any of the equipment discussed during their training, more training may be warranted.

The three-day requirement of direct supervision has nothing to do with the training requirement. This requirement is meant to ensure that newly trained employees are not sent to a work site and left unsupervised but get supervised field experience for at least three days. It is not part of their training period; it is part of their job function period.

Our system will keep track of your progress, enabling you to resume where you left off upon your next login. It is important that once you start a section, you complete that section or you will need to start that section over from the beginning upon your return.
Yes, you can take the online portion by signing in with your username and password from any location and computer with high-speed internet access. However, each computer does need to meet our basic system requirements for viewing our online courses.
Yes, once you have completed a course, you are able to download, save or print a certificate of completion from your student account. Certificates are created in a pdf format. Users must have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader before attempting to download the completion certificate.
